Dr. Hancock wishes us well!

A life well lived should include many "transformational experiences" that help shape one's perspectives on the world and determine his or her path moving forward.  My time in Scotland in conjunction with my Fulbright fellowship at the University of Edinburgh was one such experience.  I felt especially fortunate to be able to combine my passion for learning about other cultures with an educational grounding provided through the University.  For those participating in this summer's experience, you have that same opportunity.  Your interaction with Methodist professors will enhance what you will gain from the tour.  My wish for you is that it exceeds your expectations and is indeed a transformational experience for you.  I look forward to hearing about your journey upon your return.

Best wishes,

President Hancock

Ancestory

My maternal great grandfather immigrated to Canada from Huntly in Aberdeenshire.  It doesn't look like our itinerary takes us close to that town though.  If we have enough free time in Edinburgh it might be feasible to catch the train to Huntly.  It would be cool to visit there, but I've managed to live 58 years without ever having set foot in Scotland, so I figure I can continue without visiting Huntly.
